MLB Playoff Picks 2008 (round 2)
Yup. Stunk the big one. Only picked 2/4 winners last round. Boston and Philly. At least one thing turned out well…. that both Chicago teams lost! Back to your abandoned buildings Chicago fans. I’ll always remember my drive into Chicago with buddies to watch a Blackhawks game. Creepy slummy buildings all along the highway. Wow. Great city. And if that wasn’t bad enough, the drive through Detroit before Chicago was worse. At least the Cubs curse continues!
Enough chat about two grubby cities. Round two has two series and I guarantee you two winners
Boston vs. Tampa Bay - Who would ever think TB would not only make the playoffs, but also have home field advantage? Show of hands please. I see some! Put them down you fucking liars. TB is young, has decent pitching, and timely hitting. Total fluke artists. Okay, they beat an aging Chi Sox team. Dice-K will dominate game 1 and the series will end shortly. There is no way that gay sounding Eva Longoria dude will keep up his pace. Will TB do well in seasons to come? Maybe, but their first taste of playoffs will end quick like most young inexperienced teams. Not a fan of the Red Sox and their arrogant fans, but they will win. Even with a shaky Beckett, more than enough pitching to out-duel any TB guys. Boston in 5
Philly vs. LA Dodgers - I was half right about LA. They do have pitching just as I said, but was wrong big time about their hitters. I thought they’d slump, but Rammy did carry them to a certain extent. Will LA’s hitters keep up the hot streak against Hamels and Co.? I think they might. Philly’s pitching is not that great. As for offence, if the Phils are going to go for bombing HRs, they might do it against LA. Philly does have home field advantage, but that 2-3-2 sequence never seems like an advantage. Hmmmmm….. Phillies have Mitch Williams looming over their head and the Dodgers have had dreadful playoffs since gimpy Gibson belted that homer. That’s a knock against both teams whether you like it or not! Tough call, but I’m going with the Phils due to their hitting. I don’t think LA’s pitchers can keep up their success. Never a fan of Lowe and it’s a matter of time before those Korean pitchers get plastered. Philly in 6
