Wayne Gretzky Resigns - Big Time Quitter
Since joining the Coyotes, the team has done nothing in 4 years. Missed the playoffs each year by a wide margin and no signs of getting better, even though the team has some solid players. Ever watch a Phoenix game? I have on NHL Centre Ice. The team is a joke and Gretzky looks like an idiot behind the bench. A classic case of a hall of fame player who thinks he is a hall of fame coach.
Here’s a tip Wayne. Most legendary coaches in pro sports were lousy players or never even played the sport at the pro level.
There’s the whole Balsillie thing going around for the past year, ownership issues, the NHL getting involved, arena issues and what does Wayne do?
1. Doesn’t come to training camp
2. Can’t handle the whole Coyote sale fiasco
3. Still has 1 year left on his coaching contract
5. Leaves the coaching tasks to Ulf Samuelsson
6. Puts the team in an even tougher situation as the season starts in 1 week
Quitting….. the best way to show confidence, maturity and support of the organization
“Buh-bye folks, I’m quitting. I still have 1 year left on my coaching contract, but too bad. I’m outta here morons! I’m a part owner of the team, but I prefer to stay at home and watch from the sidelines.
Thanks for the absurdly high salary each year! I got my money. Hey Janet, you want another mansion?”
Dave Tippett is rumoured to take over the coaching job. Good choice. They better make it quick because there is no chance Ulf will do better than Wayne…. as bad as Wayne was behind the bench.
